New Dawn Charter Schools Board Members serve a one-year term and are automatically nominated for another year term every June. The current members are:

Chair: Ronald Tabano

Ronald Tobano

Ronald Tabano has over 40 years of experience in education. Beginning his career as a 6th-grade teacher, he then moved into teaching social studies and English Language Arts at the middle and high school levels, and ultimately as an Assistant Principal. He then moved from the school environment to work for the community by creating job opportunities for struggling adolescents. He is a founding member of The Wildcat Academy, opened in 1992, The Second Opportunity School (SOS), which opened in 1997, and The New Beginnings School in 1999. Today, Mr. Tabano continues his work as CEO and Principal of The Wildcat Academy in New York City.

Vice Chair: Jeffrey Casio


 

Jeffrey Casio is a seasoned banking professional with over 19 years of experience in financial services, specializing in sales management, branch operations, and client relationship development. Currently serving as the Market Sales Manager and Vice President at Metropolitan Commercial Bank, Jeffrey has demonstrated a proven track record of driving business growth, enhanced operational efficiency, and delivered exceptional customer service.  

 In his current role, Jeffrey is responsible for acquiring new business relationships through strategic outreach and in-person meetings. He has successfully developed a new Deposit Vertical by focusing on industry-based relationships, including Charter Schools and Non-Profit Organizations. His efforts in attending national conventions and expanding Centers of Influence have significantly contributed to the bank’s growth.  

 Prior to joining Metropolitan Commercial Bank, Jeffrey held leadership positions at Citibank, where he served as Branch Manager and Vice President at two high-profile branches in Manhattan. During his tenure, he implemented sales strategies aligned with business objectives, fostered a motivating environment through activity-based coaching, and ensured operational integrity while adhering to regulatory standards.  

 Jeffrey’s career also includes roles at Flushing Bank and Capital One Bank, where he honed his skills in branch management, sales leadership, and team development. His ability to coach and mentor staff, coupled with his expertise in compliance and risk management, has consistently driven branch performance and profitability.  

 Before his banking career, Jeffrey served in the U.S. Army as a Squad Leader and Sergeant E5, where he led and trained soldiers, managed logistics, and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His military experience instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, leadership, and strategic planning, which he has carried into his professional endeavors.  

 Jeffrey holds a deep commitment to community engagement and has actively participated in local organizations to enhance corporate visibility and foster meaningful relationships. His dedication to excellence, coupled with his extensive industry knowledge, makes him a valuable asset to any organization.  

 Jeffrey Casio continues to leverage his expertise to drive business growth, build lasting client relationships, and inspire teams to achieve their full potential.
